Something good to say about runflats

I was out with my wife yesterday and hit a curb. I never hit curbs, I'm really careful about it, but I hit this one hard.
When I got out to survey the damage, I was amazed. No damage to the wheel, and virtually no marks on the tire. It was hard to tell where it hit the curb. The sidewall must be so hard that it saved the wheel from getting damaged.
Any other wheel/tire combo and I'd have had a chunk of tire and wheel missing.
That's worth something, even if they don't ride well, they do provide a nice benefit after all.

Yes I have to agree, the 124 wheels with run flat tyres are very resistant to damage, I have clipped the kerb a couple of times and the tyre wall has protected the wheel. Also the 124 wheels are very easy to clean and always look really good. My previous car was a E39 540i and had the bright line wheels which were always prone to damage and hard to clean. I think the 124 wheel and run flats are a good combination and no more noisy than my E39 wheels.

No doubt the E39 540 wheels - style 32 - were unbearable to clean. This is a major step forward in that area.
