I think the most rational response would be to crash your car into every blue Peugeot in town, just to be sure.

Better still hire a car for the job from Dollar , they wont notice the difference when you return it.

That really sucks. Would have been great if they had caught the perp, but hopefully your car will be fixed and will look like new.

My Ride: 535d M Sport Auto
Default

Hello all, been a lurker for some time, but I'm coming out, so to speak. This thread inspired me to tell my story.

I live in the commuter belt of Hampshire and often travel up to London on the train. A couple of months ago, I upgraded from my 520 to a 535 M Sport. I decided to pamper the acquisition and for the first week only went on small trips or park it in the driveway and wash/wax it. However, the time came and it was time to drive it to the railway station and park up whilst I travel in. I always make sure I get to the car park early so that I can choose one of two spaces to avoid being dinged on the doors.

One is tucked into a corner but is much wider than the rest, but, parrallel with the other spaces. This space was gone. The other space is sideways so that the front is at right angles to all the parrallel faced cars. So I parked there with a Porsche in front of me at right angles (if that makes sense).

At 7:05am I got out of my car, walked up a small hill, looked back (ahhh), through the 'upper' car park and to the platform and got on the 7:10am train.

When I got back to the station that night at 7pm, as I was walking over the footbridge i noticed a whole heap of people looking at my car, and for some reason another car parked quite close. As I got within 10 yds or so it was obvious that some nutcase had driven their car and buried it into the front of mine. In fact it got worse because as I found out.... the same time that morning, some plonker decided to park his rusty 'N' reg Citroen on the upper level car park and not apply the hand brake. He got on the same train as me and a witness said it slowly creeped out of the parking bay, hit a car leaving the car park, careered down the hill and took mine out from back to front on the drivers side. So much for the parking space to avoid getting dinged!

I'd only done 200 miles in the thing. I was devastated. The car is back now after 4 weeks. New rear/front wings, two new doors, new sill and they've yet to fix a dent in the pillar. I'll probably smile about it one day but that's a while off yet. The insurance claim was interesting.. two driverless cars involved in a collision. The upside was that I got an Mercedes SLK 350 for 4 weeks.. fun car, just not family friendly.

Tunbridge, the perpertrator in this case wouldnt come back to the scene of the crime and sent a friend, but know how you feel. Fortunately, his insurance paid up.

Holy f#ck!n sh!t, I have a Windows 2008 training course to attend next month and i was going to drive through to the course. I guess i will get the wife to drop me at the train station now. My car is either at home or in the car park at work, I hate leaving it anywhere.

I hope it is as good as new.

Bob.. am so paranoid about every little thing on the car now. Every squeak, rattle, shake. I even drove it back because I thought the door needed an extra firm push to close, but it seems it's the same as every other door. I think it's probably as good as new, but it's the knowing part that's niggling me.. Today I went out and I "tried" four different parking spaces, going through that "He looks like an old driver", "Has he got good eyesight", "Ekk, shopping trolleys", "Ah, far end of car park.. no, vandals", "Busy end of car park..".

I am contemplating buying a sub 1K car just for going places where i wouldnt want to take my E60, i could get a nice little E36 runaround, 1K or 12K i still end up treating it like a brand new car. Not sure i want 2x road tax and 2x insurance.
