Picked up my car late Friday after a week at the dealer to fix a number of problems, some sw related, some not.
Immediately noticed that the gear changes are smoother, the phone responds to the IDrive without random delays, TV reception improved.
This evening put an MP3 CD into the CD slot ( simple disk with 8 MP3 files, no nested directories ) didn't expect it to work....
but work it does.
Display still shows a picture of a disk with the track numbers around the edge, but name of track playing appears in bottom left of display.
I'll cut another CD tonight with a directory structure and lots more files and see if it still works and how it displays it.
I'll find out tomorrow what version of sw they upgraded my car to.

Sounds like a regular CD with CD text, not MP3.

Yes....I thought I might be seeing things, went back and checked, the files are definitely .mp3...
However, I've now tried a disk with folders.....it only plays the .mp3 files in the root directory, it can't see anything else.
Academic anyway, the whole IDrive has started rebooting itself , losing all instrumentation including speed plus several other problems have appeared....car is going to be returned back to old software this afternoon.

Dealer tells me it was the latest version of CIP 19, which has now been recalled by BMW after a very short release window because of other problems. He wouldn't tell me what increment of 19 it was.
