is the software update worth it?

I paid about £150 for the kit and i fitted it myself, otherwise the dealer wanted around £40 to fit. They updated the software for me for £80 to enable the kit. Having the Ipod in the car is definately worth it, i can access my entire collection through the iDrive.

My latest obsession is to get the Gateway 500 with the Bluetooth module, cant save enough £s to afford it just now but i will eventually do it.

i live in newcastle (not very far from scotland) so, in case one day u think of getting gateway 500, then u have a buyer here for ur current ipod interface

Ya I think 2006 will work with the s/w update. let me see if i can locate the SIB

OK here it is... this should tell the dealer how to do it... look at attachment SI B65 30 05

The other two are for reference. Take this to the dealer and ask them again... they should be able to give you a definite answer now... I think these are for North American cars but I cant imagine they're THAT different...
