Uh O... then are you sure they installed new software?

I'm expecting mine to be all erased when I go in for 16.2 if not I'll be a little skeptical...

yepp. I have the perspective view on my nav now. The adresses were left in the nav and all the radio stations were also left.

oh thats good... See I've also remember reading here somewhere where they can upgrade certain parts of the car to 16.2 and leave others... but I cant remember where I read it. So I dont know... I hope thats not what they did.

 

i took my nov 2004 535d sport to local dealer over a noise eminating rear of gear box/wheels(to quick to determine) this week we agreed that a s/ware reprogram might help narrow down fault....so asked for voice activation at same time thinking this would be the cheapest way at getting the upgrade....wish i had read all the posts first... ?220.oo cost now have lost some screens 1 being aux input option phone (bluetooth seems to have lost signal cant read mp3 files no rds either .having tried to work out on the osd screen as pointed out here i have all different info to the others and am totally confused....
fitted with dvd & cd slots and changer. dvd nav big screen and god knows what radio i have i thought it was pro as i have advanced air con..
poor iceman is trying to answer us stupid idiots gess we should all read the posts properly. but various answers for different countrys doesnt help matters.
what is the secret bmw have over telling what version the are loading in my mech man couldnt tell me. he crashed the workshop at dealers when he downloaded from site so had to wait 2 days for a posted disk .syill couldnt or wouldnt tell me the version or what was changed.....hopeless or what.

 

13.3 to 16.1 erased my NAV address book. The mechanic wrote down the radio settings and re-did the presets. My seat memory stayed the same. All other settings had to be reset and my phone re-paired. The only pain was loosing the address book. the rest can be reset in 15 minutes in the car. The NAV address book was built slowly by adding current locations over the last few months.

 

It really depends on the "kind" of software update.

I had some "problems and got Voice recognition retrofitted last week so I went to16.2 coming from 15.X and indeed everything was wiped (addressbook entries and radio stations etc. )

but today they recoded voice recognition from German to UK English both above stayed intact

 

Ok here's a twist. I got 16.2 yesterday (Car drives WONDERFUL now BTW) and I did not lose all my settings. The only thing lost was my max speed limit warning.

BUT today when I used the second key all settings were gone.

So what dose that mean?

Did I not get a FULL 16.2 upgrade? just a partial transmission upgrade? Cuz that was my complaint.

OR

Did the Tech save the settings for that key before installing 16.2 and then wasnt able to save the 2nd key settings since he didnt have it.

 

Some shops write down Radio settings. It was helpful for me but I lost my NAV address book.

 

Actually correction... The settins are still there... it was just changed and the radio stated up in Manual Tuning mode instead of presets so I thought they were gone... I went out later to re-program everything again but then found out they were actually ALL still there.

So either 16.2 has a "memory" feature or I didnt get a FULL CIP 16.2 upgrade...
