Welcome to the club, nice looking car. Cant beleive looking at your pictures BMW still didnt put power sockets in the rear of a car that must have been north of ? 40K ($ 70K) new.
They'd never get used even if it did have them.

Don't use my iPod in the car, Mobile phone has it's own cradle in the armrest that charges, my PSP only gets used when flying or train journeys, so nothing to plug into a power socket even if i had one.

See your point though.

Thanks all for the nice feedback, as stated i'm a very happy camper. The only thing left to do is get mp3 playback enabled, as i've got a specially made compilation disc sat in the ccc just dying to be played. My dealer is looking into it along with what software version i'm currently running, so should have this enabled within a couple of weeks.

Getting frustrated that i've no big drives until the week after next. I so want to try her out fully. Still at least it will add enjoyment to an otherwise boring business trip down to London.

Congratulation for the beautiful car, I know how fun can it be to drive an E60 and I am glad to see all this enthusiasm.
As you like the M look try to check out the photo and consider to install the trunk lid as per No. 21. In my opinion it makes the boot even more graceful than it is already.

Congrats on your new beast. mean machine !!

Got my 530d recently and can understand yours the pleasures and joys of taking this baby out for a "spin"
...may be I am not as careful driver as you but already found myself in some bother when I turned off the DTC -- especially going round the sharp bends. I would keep it on

Mmm nice choice of car.

You will not regret the DMS remap - it really is awesome.

If you thought you needed DTC now, wait till they have tinkered with it!

I've already encountered some arse out action on my way home from picking the car up, but as i've been driving Quattros for the last 5yrs+, i'll be quickly getting myself used to RWD. When i get chance, i'll try playing with the DTC/DSC & guage how effective & what characteristics all modes give me (on/nearly on/a little bit on & off) of course in a safe place to practice.

Looking forward to the DMS work on Monday, so i'll only start re-learning RWD driving once the re-map is done as that makes more sense.

Marco, it may be me being thick (it does happen) but what improvement are you suggesting?? My trunk is standard, but with the M-Spoiler & i can't see anything in your diagram different to what i have, except your photo does not even show a spoiler.
[/quote]
I am not talking about the spoiler but about the trunk lid shoved at point No. 21. I am attaching the photo of a car having it and you would see the difference immediately.

Standard trunk
So Pleased With My New Car!!-standard_trunk.jpg
As you can see there is a big space for the license plate and there is the lock.

M trunk
So Pleased With My New Car!!-m__trunk.jpg
There is just a smaller hole for the licence plate and the rest of the trunk is much more smooth and clean.

The trunk lid painted and installed cost no more than ?200 plus if you put also the M rear spoiler the composition looks great.

I'd never even noticed that difference between the M5 & other E60 saloons. Not sure i'd want to cover the trunk lock, as my car like most E60's does not have an internal opening button, so if anything happened i'd be in trouble. It does look good, but i'm also not sure screwing on an over plate would keep the lines looking clean & smooth, plus another place to trap dirt unless it's a really tight fit. Also would not trust a 100% exact paint match so it may look odd.

May consider it, but i'm going for the Extended voice retro-fit 1st & with the DMS next week, that will probably be the measure of all the mods i do to this car
