Nice info here!
Hah i've seen smth like stalling the car with a smg. But how many of you stalled a steptronic?! I know it's off topic but again, i ask you is it even possible? It seems i found out a way, without knowing. I tried once to do a lil burnout, i hold the brake firmly with the left foot and accelerated progressive with my right foot, until it hit 5000rpm and changed gear. Exactly when it changed gear it stalled. At that moment i $hit myself thinking the gearbox got damaged or smth cuz the car didn't start on the 1st attempt, but the second time it started. Then i realised what seems to be the problem, when the car changes gear you have to ease off the brakes, not hold them strong so the car won't move. Because the steptronic will change gear  when it hits the redzone, the car seems to choke when the brakes are f ully applied and also the throttle. First time i didn't know what happened, 2nd time i kinda realised that you have to ease off the brakes just to let the car roll half a meter or so and all is fine. So it appears there is a way to stall a steptronic car and btw this has nothing to do with driver skill.

haha Ya... sounds right... cuz when its changing gears its basically in neutral and if you're on the brakes the wheels are locked up and when the transmission tries to engage the next gear hows it going to have enough power to break locked up loose?

One of the keys to not being jerky with an SMG in stop-and-go traffic is to be smooth on the gas, both when pressing the gas and when easing off the gas. Many people are used to an automatic where you can push the gas gradually but release it completely and the car won't jerk. In an SMG (as well as a manual) you press the gas gradually, (especially in the lower gears) but you need to ease off the gas with the same gradual nature.

It's a tough habit to break because even if you're experienced driving a manual, when your left foot doesn't have any pedal, your brain sort of automatically flips into "automatic transmission mode" so your right foot tends to press the gas like you would on a slushbox...
Believe me, I tried. But in my case, when the car disengaged the clutch, the entire car shook, no matter how soft I was with the gas pedal. But not always. It shook more when it was warm outside.
Two other SMG cars I drove didn't do it, so it was definitely my car.

And I never owned an automatic in my life, so I am not too spoiled.....

And don't use the term "slushbox", I got beaten up badly on this board for using this word a while ago.

You are absolutely right! When you hit 40, your brain really starts to slow down...............not that it was any better before 40 though.
