Not downshifting is bad for the transmission... haha
With SMG its made for downshifting. Thats how the car is suppose to be driven. Downshift when slowing down so you'll be in the right gear to accelerate again.

Dinan Performance Software 384hp & 421 ft/lbs.
What is commonly mistaken for what you stated is the correct statement "Don't downshift instead of using your brakes."
Downshifting is fine, even aggressive downshifting is fine with the SMG. But don't use it to replace slowing down for every traffic light, everytime you drive.
