My Ride: 04' 545i SMG , Oriental Blue, Congiac Leather Interior, Nav., Park Assist, Logic 7, Sports Pkg, Cross drilled slotted rotors, ceramic pads, SS Brake lines, free flow air filter and a supercharger (coming soon)etc.....all the good stuff
Some people say you should not downshift in an smg, it's bad for transmission, and causes problem. Others say it's perfectly fine. Can I get some insight in this issue.
Thank You

I'm a firm believer that you must downshift an SMG in order to drive it properly. Sure, it'll downshift itself eventually but only when it absolutely has to in order to prevent stalling.
To understand my point better and to learn what others think as well, take a look at these threads:

Downshifting and throttle blipping are the reasons why you do get SMG!

I've been downshifting for the last 2.5 years with no problems. The downshift throttle blip still brings a smile to my face.
