Hi guys,

I had the same problem where my passenger mirror wouldnt return to place after reversing. Took it back to the dealer and they sorted. My apologies for not knowing what exactly they did but the problem hasnt reoccurred ever since and its been 2 months.
Any chance you can find out for us? TIA

That happened to me before, guess it is a common issue.

... and here's another one with the same problem! I had my dealer look at it last week, but the problem remains.

(And this was my post # 1,000!)

Thanks for the heads up.

I tried deactivating the last seat position but it's only been a day and a half so I can't tell if it's fixed or not. Unfortunately I think since we're so far in to the E60 life cycle, BMW will probably not waste any resources to find a fix for this "bug"

Did you read all of the other thread? I think Rudy is eluding to the fact that the bug has been fixed, either by hardware replacement of the mirror or software upgrade, just not sure which...

Fingers crossed it has been resolved so that we can all hassle our dealers for the fix.

Anyone experiencing the same problem? Won't happen all the time but after about 3-4 reverses I notice I have to re-adjust the mirror
Had the same thing happen with mine. Brought it to the dealer since it is still under warranty. They couldn't recreate the problem, I had to show them. They finally saw what I was talking about. I think I had it at the dealer a week because when they finally decided on what to do they had to order a whole new motor and housing. This fixed the issue for a couple of months, but the issue has returned. Will have them fix it again when I bring it back for the scheduled maintenance.

I think the solution to all of this is... Get some M5 mirrors for everyone. =) (excluding the people with M5's)

The reality is, at any level this whol issue isn't a big deal to me. Even if I have to readjust the right mirror slightly every few days, it takes a few seconds. Big deal. Actually, in some ways the car does to much for me anyway.... I'm still not sure I want active cruise control making my decisions, and would have liked it better if I had at least the option of disabling the "active" part of it.
