My Ride: 2008 Sapphire Black on Black M5 - loaded sans soft close doors
I was worried about this as well (my car only had 460 miles as of yesterday and was still showing 15,000 for the next service - note that I picked it up on 12/26/05!). However after a 130 mile drive, it now says 14,000 miles. So it counts down in 1000 mile increments at this point.

I keep track of everything. I cut out about 90% of what was in that particular area of spreadsheet just to show that aspect of the CBS. I guess one of the things that got me going on this as well, was all the issues I found here on the forum. Just way too much going on with these cars to leave to my geezer memory.

If you capture each driving session using one of the several OBD II tools you would have the data to reverse engineer the CBS algorithms. Right up your alley.
