Service engine soon light - 550i

My 2007 550i with 57k miles (CPO car) has the service engine soon light. iDrive shows everything is OK.
Annoying. CPO has a $50 deductible.
Experience with this? What have others done? Can an auto parts store diagnose free? or just bite the bullet and go to the dealer?
