on my way to play golf this morning when the chime goes off and says service engine soon. When I restart, I get the Increased Emissions message on the iDrive screen. Did a search here and saw various suggestions ranging from carefully tightening gas cap when filling up to software update as solutions. Doubt it's the gas cap as it has been over a week since I filled up and still have a bit less than half a tank. Any suggestions before I call the dealer in the morning? I had the oil changed several weeks ago at the dealer and when I look in the service section of iDrive, it says change oil a 6,000 miles. I'm at 5,250. Thanks in advance for the help.

I have had the same issue with the check engine light 3 times. Service was trying to tell me that is was an improperly tightened gas cap. After the third time I did not buy it. Before I can say anything, he said that there was a technical bulletin that will correct this issue of the supposed malfunctioning sensors. They upgraded my software and that appears to have done the trick. Don't let them convince you that you are doing something wrong, I would recommend that you tell them to upgrade the software. Unless you really do have a malfunctioning sensor(s).
