19 inch Wheels vs 20 inch wheels on an E60
I own a 2008 535i sports package......... I am looking for new wheels soon... I live in southern California so my driving conditions are normally mild......
I like look of a larger wheel so 20 inch is calling my name i but I dont want my bmw to feel like Im driving a Honda so im leaning towards the 19.... if people who had experience with ether both or ether please share cause i am truly on the fence...
Thank you in advance

I ran 80,000 miles on my OEM 17s. Upgraded to an OEM 19" wheel and Goodyear tires for the past 40,000 miles and retained most of my ride quality. Performance and comfort will take a tiny hit when going up to 19s, but I would imagine it would exponentially get worse at 20" and higher.

I too agree.. the upgrade to 19's only stiffened my ride quality and comfort a small amount. 20's.. well they are very cool.. but it's about the potholes and dips you have in your road.
I just put on lowering springs and there are a few dips and even manhole covers that are a little vicious now with the springs plus 19" tire combo. I definitely have to drive more carefully vs with the stock 17's. Although I really didn't care if I broke a wheel or a tire (which I killed my winter tire on the last few weeks of winter due to a very sharp pothole I didn't see in the dark/rain/slush.. doh!)
You gotta pay to play.. I would never do 20's in new england.. but the roads I saw in San Diego I might consider it depending on my normal commute/ride.

since I have the sports package my oems are 18" with run flats. So I wonder how much of a difference a 19" or 20" with regular tires would feel.....

That's true.. never thought about that. I went with regular tires on my 19's since I'm not a crazy fan of runflats anyways.. but stock 18's with runflats are pretty stiff compared to the non runflat 17's.

20's FTW. Going from boat anchor 124's with RFT to 20" F14's wrapped in 245/30-20&275/30-20 the ride quality improved. This was in part due to a 10% weight reduction with the F14's and being it was unsprung weight it was very noticeable. Weight reduction is key along with ditching RFT.
