Seeking code interpretation confirmation
I just got an '08 E61 with 94k miles, and after fixing the obvious maladies, I erased the stored codes to see what is currently wrong. I'd appreciate it if some of the more experienced BMW aficionados could check my work and let me know if I'm on the right track.
I got four codes: 30FF, 5EBA, 9C55, and 9CC5.
30FF is low boost. A check engine/reduced power light came on while passing someone on the highway. So, full throttle, high gear (not sure which), high RPM. Cleared with a restart, and hasn't come back with less "aggressive" driving. Reading up suggests to start with vacuum lines (probably due anyway, and low cost), inspect the rest of the induction system between the turbos and the throttle body, but it seems like the conditions under which the code was thrown would probably narrow things down a bit for those who are more familiar with how the system operates. Any tips to help me narrow down my efforts?
5EBA is an implausible steering angle sensor. My DSC has been kicking in at odd times, and I think this is related. Disassemble the steering wheel, clean the sensor. Pretty straight forward. Check me anyway.
9C55 and 9CC5 might be related. One is a fog sensor, and the other is a rain/light sensor. The windshield is in dire need of replacement. Sandblasted to hell and back. I haven't seen one this bad since an original 1957 European (tempered glass) windshield on a car I had several years ago. I think both of these will be handled when the windshield is replaced, and the poor surface and/or a poor prior installation might be the cause of both of these. That assumes your typical windshield guy is able to make the sensors work. Not really sure about that. I have a guy, but I've never brought him anything this modern/complicated. What's the deal with windshield replacement re: these two sensors on these?
