As I said before, I don't think just feeling the seat with your hand is enough of a test.
Thanks to this thread, that's exactly what I did this morning! And, oh yes, they're warm alright.

That's one of the perks loggin in to this forum; you'll never know what kind of new knowledge you will leave the forum with...

I stand corrected. I checked the seats again and both the seat bolsters and the back bolsters are indeed heated. I never checked the back bolsters before but I had checked the seat. This time I turned on the heater to full power and waited awhile. The seat bolsters get warm much slower than the seat itself and are nowhere near as hot. Maybe that's why I missed it the first time - didn't wait long enough.

The following two documents are instructions on how to remove the padding for the thigh support on the comfort seat or on the sport seat. Pay particular attention to the section that describes the procedure for version with heating...

Comfort seat:
Attachment 45121
Sport seat:
Attachment 45122

As I said before, I don't think just feeling the seat with your hand is enough of a test. I think the heat transfers faster/better if some weight is applied to the heated area. That's why the seat bottom feels like it heats up more than the bolster -- because your body weight is pressing down on the seat bottom...

P.S. - DWS545, aren't you glad you asked this one?
Yes I am glad I asked! I never did try applying the battery to the thigh support as I've been too busy ice skating in the back yard with the kids! One has to do something fun in this cold, otherwise it would seem to last forever!

Thanks again to all who responded.

Def a problematic area i would say. My 525D Sport seat does heat all areas of the seat bottom passengers side, and none, repeat none on the drivers side, despite any amount of persuasion from within IDrive. Both backrests work all over.

Why i have no idea, i would love somebody to tell me, i don't think its an IDrive bug as the passenger side works really well both back and bottom!!

So there is definitely something up with some people's cars. I would love to think the bottom of my driver's seat is unplugged (easy solution) I doubt it is so trivial alas...
