[quote name='northernmonkey' date='Jul 26 2005, 06:03 PM']in the last week i seem to be VERY uncomfortable in my M-sport sports seats.
i moved the seat a few times during cleaning now i cannot get it back to a comfortable position. at first i thought nothing of it and just assumed i would eventually find the correct combination of setting but no.....
.....days have gone by and i cannot get comfortable, i have constant pressure on the underside of my legs and it feels like my weight is not spread out evenly on the seat base and is more biased towards the rear.
now before the jokes start...i am not a BIG person at all
avg height, build, weight etc.....run 5 times a week, gym 4 times so not likely that i'm too big for the sports seats?
i have inspected the seat and it does appear that the padding in the base of the drivers seat seems to have flattened, lost some of its firmness or slipped, is this possible? should i get the dealer to check it?
i did find using the tilt feature helped a bit, if anyones got any pointers on correct posture for driving that might help me work out if i just need to raise seat more, tilt it more, move steering wheel closer etc etc.....i'm trying all sorts at the moment.

I haven't been comfortable in the sport seats on my 545i since day 1. My right hip starts hurting everytime I sit in the car and drive. I have tried at least over 50 different seat settings till now and nothing works. I just assumed it was me. (also avg build but gym every 3-4 months and run every 2-3 years)

Before I bought my E60, I test drove both with and without sports package. I told my sales person I like the sports package but I am willing to take the regular seats instead of sports seats. It just don't feel confortable.
But I also told my sales. It's a BMW, I will learn to like it.

I hate my sport seats to the point I am considering selling the car, my thigh hurts, it feels like sitting on a wooden bench. I can not tilt the seat bottom so the rear part is higher or equal as the front part, the seat bottom has the rear part lower.
The seats on my Z4 used to feel uncomfortable, but after sitting on the 545 they feel great.
I have tried using pieces of foam, pillows, etc but can not make them usable.

If BMW made Sport seats comfortable, they wouldn't make a dime selling comfort seats now would they?? Hmm...?

This reminds me of the Xbox 360 (Microsofts successor to the Xbox)...
They are selling a bare-bones version for $300USD and a bells-n-whistles version for $400USD. When you compare the two, you'll soon discover that it's practically useless to get the $300 version so you either spend $400 or you don't get one.
I'm generally satisfied with the sport seats except for the miserable headrest. The best advice I was given was from my Chiropracter who told me to take my wallet out of my hip pocket. This eliminated any tilt in my pelvis and resulting discomfort. I also follow the general recommendations from the BMW magazine and find I can drive very comfortably by doing so. The seats are certainly firm and after trying the comfort seats, I'd like to have them but it's not worth selling the car over. I'm trying to see if there's an aftermarket solution to improve the headrest; it's a bit of a problem given I have an auburn interior.... If anyone solves the comfort seat headrest retrofit problem, I'd love that!

I just got a black perforated leatherette neck pillow from ebay, it's like $10.00...3" thick, perfect. I too have Auburn, but no worries, the black is a match to the two tone interior. As a hiropractor myself, I do find that if you sit more upright, the seats are rather comfortable, where as the e39 seats are more comfortable leaned back.
You also don't need that much seat tilt or thigh support as you think. Give it a try.
Hope that helps...
