Screwed-screw.jpg

I noticed this in my drivers side front tire today while tightening the bolts just make sure everything was safe. I haven't even put 1000 miles on my new wheels yet and now this. I don't know how long it's been there but the pressure in the tire is exactly the same as I originally inflated it to about a month ago or so. I don't hear any air leaking from it either.

My thoughts are conflicting. Should I just leave it alone? Get it removed and plugged? I always hear plugs don't work. I assume another option is to just buy a whole new tire but I don't really want to do that so soon. Is there any other options like some goo you spray inside the tire to seal the area around the screw?

Well I actually had a simular problem on the standard tires from BMW (just after 3000 kms).
So i put a plug in it, and it still works (now already 5500 kms)...

You just need to unable the warning from the car that says something like: flat tire (don't know the correct translation since my car is setup in dutch)

I don't like the plug. Ask for the Patch, it works better.

Just don't leave it along.

In PS2's! However, I would't leave it - take it to a professional they can advise you. I think it's actually too close to the edge for 'plugging'?

Patch will work. Go to any gas station that have tire service and ask them to patch it for you. Costs about $10.

Mark.
I had a thick nail in my front left tyre just a few weeks after installing my PS2's. My pressure dropped from 2.3 to 1.9 and the TPM went off.

I had the tyre plugged from the inside. The plug has a round patch which adheres to the inside of the tyre. Quite a lengthy process they went throgh to prep the tyre (cleaning, drilling the hole to make it uniform, etc) before inserting the plug.

I also did the same on my E39 and it lasted about 20 000km's before I had to replace the tyres due to wear.

The experts around here say this is the best approch for high performance tyres.

I'd go to a reputable tire dealer that does sell PS2s. I believe they would patch it, but advise you that it is down one notch on the speed rating.

Good luck.

That's the meatiest portion of the tread, so let the tire center expert decide which repair is best. I had plugs in 2 of my Michelin Pilot A/S on the 540 but had them moved them to the rear in case they got lumpy. But in last change/rotation, they got back to the front again and I never had any balance issues, they never leaked, and they were down to their last by the time I traded it. I think you are very fortuante that it is in the shoulder/stiffest part; just rely on them to get it right. And be thankful that it isn't a Thumpflat.

Cheers,
Ray Hull
