I would appreciate some clarification on an issue i'm having with the SCCA rule book. I'm trying to set up my car for an auto cross and need to make sure I am purchasing the right wheels for the event. Under the stock car classification, you are only allowed to replace your wheels with others of the same dimensions offered by the car maker for that model. So am I correct in thinking I am allowed 18x8 all around since that's what came with my sports package or am I allowed 18x9 on the rear since technically I can do so with the dealer?

Anyone?

From my understanding, you can run the 18x9 rears since they are an option from the dealer.

Couldn't you run 19s though, since technically they can be bought and installed by the dealer?

BMW offers the 124 staggered set-up for the 530i Sport as an additional option, so yes, you can run 18x9.

Thanks for the help. Now I just need to find some good looking light weight wheels.

This is better asked on the SCCA site, but I think if you have a non-sport package car and want to run the sport package wheels (assuming they are different sizes) then you must also install all of the other options which came with those wheels.

You don't want to run staggered sizes anyway -- running the same size all around will better balance the car and help eliminate some understeer. In addition, you will be able to rotate tires easily.
