I'm going to give it a go. First of all, I need to get the latest DVD. Is it 2006-1 ?

Maybe I'll try with my 2004 DVD first.

I presume that every time you want to show the cameras, you need to goto search for that type of information. A shortcut would be nice
I put the "cameras" info on a new category under auto and to activate camera POI I click on that info.
On the list description I see the list ordered by distance, on the map I see symbols as in the photo you can see above.

Is the DVD in data formwat, and therefore easy to copy onto hard disk, mess with the info, and then write a new DVD?

If you can add camera locations, you could also do some interesting stuff, like adding all your personal important places.

Sure, you have a lot of data field to write, if you want such as Address, Phone, and so.
I did not use for camera of course.

Is getting near to a POI announced by some verbal message like "you're near your destination" and arrival by a different (but similar) announcement?

At what distance before the POI does the first of these occur?

Can the audible announcement be changed?

Is it simply an audio clip file on the DVD?

If so, can different types of POI have different audio clips?

If I am to set up "safety" camera locations as POIs on DVD I favour something like a beep or two.

Is the announcement volume varied according to how load ones music is playing at the time - so as to be heard above the music?

Standard message only if you setted up your destination and activated navigation

I do not know , but i'm skeptic

NO, in my knowledge

Not possible, better to use a GPS Palmar like Mitac Mio 168

As a standard target to reach with nagigation ON : YES
