Saturday I drove on an empty German Autobahn (probably due to the soccer World Cup) and did a little Vmax racing with a Suzuki Hayabusa (I didn?t have the slightest chance BTW). The HUD showed a top speed of 262 km/h in M6 before I noticed the rev/speed limiter kicking in at about 6100 rpm.
Now I wonder: did BMW set the limiter wrong (normally it should kick in at 250 km/h) or doesn?t the HUD show exact speed?
Any opinions on this?

But, you could always use the hidden "true" speedo and tach to check your results--assuming you can get to it in your German model. Check out post #28 of this thread. The post shows the procedure I developed/used intitially. It seems complicated, but really isn't. Now, I can access the hidden speedo and tach, etc., just by sort of bumbling through.
