545smg is that you? Welcome back and congrats on your new 550i.
Thanks, I am back after a year on the "dark side." I was driving a mercedes for a year CL500, not bad, until a got back in the bimmer.
I had relocated bit for work reasons but I am back in the Bay area.
Whats weird is I'm having trouble driving the 550, the interior upgrade on the 08 ' is a significant difference.
New things that I noticed as well:
[list]
[*]The doors close differently than on my old 545, there's a cushioning - probably due to the old faulty door seals.[*]The dash, which I just noticed have more buttons, the bezel design of knobs make a huge difference.[*]All in all, even over the downtown streets, the interior cabin is much quiter. Just everything seems a bit better. I know its new but I had driven 30,000 mi on my old 545.[*]The biggest difference is the steering, its much tighter than the old 545. Its much more precise of a point and go feel - feels a bit like my boxster.
I do miss my old smg, but this I really believe that the step shifts fast, better and more efficiently than I ever had.
I'll post pics when after the clear armor is installed after the holiday - cheers

But I hardly noticed the active steering when I was driving on the road. The 550 steering seems much tighter than without active steering..
At low speeds the active steering was featherlite like a honda.
