It's a minor fix and there are no other major problems usually with the system. i suggest letting the sa look at it and check the obd for logged codes. this is not something you want to take lightly irrespective if you're out of warranty or not as this limits the airbag deployment and protective functions of the vehicle......
sorry....wish i could say you shouldnt worry about it but if there's one thing that gets my attention in my car its when a safety system doesnt work the way it should.
take it to your dealer asap.

I took my 2004 in and had the class action reprogram done. They said they couldn't find the actual program listed in the CA letter but that they loaded the latest iDrive firmware which should include it. Now, about 90 days later, the passenger restraint malfunction light has come on again. My car is out of warranty. I am at a loss as to what to expect now. I hope I don't have to pay money to make an erronous error message go away.
