I just got my car back from my indy mechanic. I had it in for him to do an oil change and replace the oil level sensor.

He said while he was replacing the sensor, he noticed that the harness was damaged. It looked like a rat or something had gnawed into it. About a two inch section of the hardness was missing. He said he just soldered the wires back together and did not replace the sensor. He then said the oil interval reset no problem.Woohoo!

Sounds like I'll have to check this out on my car since I now have this EXACT issue and followed every single step to the T so far. At least now I know where to start trouble shooting. Seems odd though that with how technologically advanced these cars are that there isn't something to tell you that the sensor is bad other than waiting for the oil change.

If you find someone to read the fault codes with a computer, it will show that the oil sensor is bad.

You are correct that doesn't work.

Please search for the correct thread instead of hijacking this one.

Could be a bad or loose or dirty oil level sensor. Mine was due to a damaged wiring harness.

Search for the procedure here and do it yourself. You have to do it exactly the way it describes.
