Replaced Transfer Case Actuator - Feels like Transfer is bound up
I replaced the transfer case actuator and drove the car ~100 miles and everything was fine. Then a noise from the under the car and it feels like some is binding the car up and preventing it from moving. If i hit the gas I can force it move - I've jacked the car up and the front wheels spin fine. If I had to guess it feels like the transfer case is bound up.
and the 4x4 lights etc are off. I imagine if I forced the car around and really broke something I could force the lights....
Anyone else experience this one? I am guessing its something with the transfer case and it needs to be replaced - but I thought I would throw it out there.

Nope - I did not.
What is the solution path on this one?
Guess at minimum remove the actuator and reinstall and calibrate.
however I am assuming I roasted the transfer case....
Which program does the calibration?

If you have ISTA (you can get it from bimmergeeks) you can reset it. I don't know how much it will help you or not. It's fairly easy to do though.

Ok, I may have been wrong in stating that you can just reset the transfer case (I mean that I used that wording too flippantly). What I did a few months ago was replace the transfer case fluid and in ISTA I did the fluid change procedure. I didn't do any other things, so what I linked to in that video earlier is not a procedure I have done myself.
I think I need to pull it down and investigate. The calibrations didn't solve the issue. I'll have to mess around with it when I have sometime.
That said is there a program that you can activate the actuator incrementally? not just on/off but put it at XXX degree?

That would be an interesting idea. I’m unaware of anything. Just X Delete (is that what it’s called?) that deactivates the transfer case.
