Explained Answer
The key has a chip in, the car reads this chip to start the car basically. The car will not start without sensing said chip, so for remote start to work you would have to trick the car into thinking it's key is nearby. The problem with that would be stupidly easy theft of the car, since whoever is in the car MUST have the keys (as for as the car knows.) This could mainly be prevent by never leaving the car unlocked tho.

Slightly More Complicated Explained Answer
If you have comfort access where you dont even need to used the fob just have it close enough for the car to pick it up, the theft becomes ten times easier.

There may be more technical details than that, like each fob having it's on setting and the settings possibly fighting for dominance since the car will sense two. I don't know how the car would respond to that. The first too are what other members here have said over the years.

Not to mention that a cold idle is not very beneficial to the health of the engine... at least, that's what I've heard.
