Thanks for the pics. How did you get the panel out? Any tricks to get it out or do you just pull and hope not to hear a snapping sound??

Just what I needed. The light on the driver's side on my 535 is out as well.

I took my 2008 528i to the local BMW to get the light repaired as I was worried about marring the wood trim when removing the panel my self. It?s under warranty anyway. After removing the wood panel trim BMW said they didn?t have the part available and it would be a week before the part was in. I told them that it was a simply light bulb, one could be purchased at any car parts store, according to the prior posts on this site anyway. They said no, it needs a special illuminating ring. In the process they marred my wood grain panel. They obviously had no idea on how to remove the panel. I was their training vehicle. Should have done it myself. I did get a nice carwash however. Of course it rained 3 hours later.

I have yet to do this stupid little repair.... But I will do it myself and not risk dealer damage nor the bill they will no doubt hammer me with... And regarding the free wash, my 545 is black and the wash is not brushless... Just say "NO!"

My BMW dealer replaced that annoying light and it took them 2 hours labor. It was under warranty and they did not ruin my wood trim but my SA said it takes a while for them to replace the light because seats need to be removed. Not sure why they removed my seats but I really could care less LOL....enjoyed some nice sandwiches drank some soda checked out the F10.

It looks like the light was discontinued after all. In my 2010 E60 550i both sockets are dark. I popped the panel and here's what I found,

Even the harness has changed. No wiring for the bulbs and the plastic ring is missing.

I took mine apart and I have these two bulbs. What color are they supposed to be? And also I found a connector in there. It's not attached to anything. Looks like an entertainment type of plug. Something you would see connected to a Bluetooth module. Is that a connector for something I can add possibly?
