Question Rear Brake Service Indicator Won't Rest

I just finished changing my rear brake pads. I went to reset the service light, and it shows ---- after I reset but the Brake (dash) and change pads service notification (i-drive) does not clear and it also states -15000 overdue (no way it is that far overdue).

So why can't I reset the service indicator?

BTW, I did not replace the pad wear sensor because it did not trip. The replace rear brakes indicator came on because of mileage. Help!

Its probably the sensor because the pads were super thin. I just ordered a new sensor.

yup thats it. I've seen it happen before. Reset after you change the sensor and it should reset.

Uh I noticed the sensor did trip. I have multiple BMW's and my older one let's you skip changing the sensor. I thought it was the same. I'm waiting for my new sensor to arrive and I'm pretty sure that'll fix it.

Same thing happened to me when I changed all my pads. Used the old sensors and it would not reset for anything. talked to a friend of mine that works on bmw for a living and he said either buy new sensors or just cut the two wires at the sensors "front and rear" and wire them together. So I just snipped and spliced them and it reset like normal. I don't need any pad sensors anyway.

Yeah I replaced the sensor and all is well. $5.99 for OEM sensor on eBay.
