Rear Brake Service Indicator Won't Rest
I just finished changing my rear brake pads. I went to reset the service light, and it shows ---- after I reset but the Brake (dash) and change pads service notification (i-drive) does not clear and it also states -15000 overdue (no way it is that far overdue).
So why can't I reset the service indicator? BTW, I did not replace the pad wear sensor because it did not trip. The replace rear brakes indicator came on because of mileage. Help! |
did you change the sensor?
|
Its probably the sensor because the pads were super thin. I just ordered a new sensor.

yup thats it. I've seen it happen before. Reset after you change the sensor and it should reset.

Same thing happened to me when I changed all my pads. Used the old sensors and it would not reset for anything. talked to a friend of mine that works on bmw for a living and he said either buy new sensors or just cut the two wires at the sensors "front and rear" and wire them together. So I just snipped and spliced them and it reset like normal. I don't need any pad sensors anyway.

Yeah I replaced the sensor and all is well. $5.99 for OEM sensor on eBay.
