Rear Aux socket

Would plugging an iPod (other mp3 players are available in all good electrical stores) into this rear socket be selectable from the iDrive for output from the car's main speakers?
I haven't picked my car up yet - that's why I can't try it!
Cheers

My dealer advised me that an iPOD can be connected to the aux input. I believe this has been confirmed by other forum members elsewhere.
However, it will not be possible to select songs using the iDrive. The information flow goes in one direction only: from the connected device to the sound system.

I didn't mean I'd be able to select the tracks from the iDrive, just that I could select the "Aux" option from it, and then I could use the iPod? So it will then, basically?
Cheers guys!

Indeed, I don't see why not.
