my 530 now is getting 21-22 at "realistic" everyday driving. always in manual mode too. gas mileage got better for me after i did a remap.
Remap? where did you get it done? I am interested...
before my remap i was getting about 17 or 18 mpg with realistic everyday driving. had it done at eurorev, speed innovation. i would recommend it. but the mpg does go a little low again with the more spirited driving, mostly when there's a meet for me

Enjoy the car and engine and don't worry too much about several mpgs!
525i, 6 speed manual. I am a slow, gentle driver who tries to obey speed limit and make effort to not take rpm over 3000.
I get about 25 mpg city/hwy mixed driving.
I average about 400 miles in one full tank gas.

Don't forget there is a difference between fuel grades and imperial vs metric mpg (I think??? or did I dream that??), so please include your location in your post if it's not already in your profile when answering
People often say how cheap fuel is in the US ... but my god your fuel sucks ... !! 525i in the UK, you'd get low to mid 30's no problem.

Another difference is the motors. Australia still gets the 218hp 2.5 motor in the 525. The early models (pre mid 2005 had the 198hp 2.5) and the current US 525 (and UK I think) now get the 218hp detuned 3.0 motor. The economy of each motor will vary also.

Hiway at mostly steady 65-75mph on level road = 27-28mpg
Mixed city / suburban roads = 20mpg (moderately spirited driving)
Running avg past 2K miles mixed driving = 21.7mpg

Diving in comfort mode for an hour with an avg speed just above 60mph i get 28-31mpg (according to trip computer). Mpg diminishes as I avg above 65mph. The fuel is 89 octane. --Ray
