All E60 members get a CTS-V
When I was shopping for my 550 in March, I thought long and hard about getting one. It would have been about the same price as my 550 and would have been able to humble a stock M5. I couldn't bring myself to go Caddy and my wife would not hear of getting a Caddy over a 5 Series BMW (we both loved our 2003 E39 540i Sport). I love my car but sometimes I wonder if I would have loved the CTS-V and its 556 bhp more -- especially when I floor it.

That stigma is something that's going to be exceedingly difficult for Cadillac to over come. My friend was considering an Escalade or a Navigator, but to his wife (and mine) Cadillac and Lincoln are associated with "old folks", so they ended up with a Mercedes GL450 Premier. Buick shares this stigma as well.

This perception is one reason why the Lincoln LS (2000) wasn't taken seriously. That was a excellent car, esp. w/V8, but the price point ($30K instead of $50K) and the name (Lincoln insead of Lexus, or BMW) meant younger buyers in the range to afford a car of that price, looked past it, and on to Acura, Lexus, BMW, Mercedes, etc., believing they were better and the LS was inferior... It wasn't.

So, no matter how fly they make their cars, getting people, esp young people (25 - 45) past that perception is going to be tough. The only way they will will be to keep winning awards for best quality (Buick) and to keep humbling class leaders (CTS-V over M5, and most recently- Caddy SRX over Lexus RX350). They've got to win buyers, one at a time. They lost them by not focusing on what customers wantd- they are going to have to win them back by doing so.

Great info, mel! Being the gentleman I am, I was of course going to hold off calling her but now I see I have the green light! It's her lucky day, I'm sure she's been waiting for my call!

if the caddy subscribes to convention with regard to US cars, have a go at it round a corner and watch it wallow in its own self pity.

It was a bit of sarcasm, and what was the CTS-V doing at the trial of Nazi war criminals?

Are you actually referring to the Nurburgring?
