I'm just getting settled with my new (to me) '08 535xiT and I noticed a strange behavior... When I do a full throttle 1st gear high-RPM acceleration, without fail the triangle with exclamation point shows up next to the "D/DS/M1" gear selection light, not the big one above it... No check control warnings, and it goes out after a few seconds of cruising... I don't have a code reader, so I don't know if its storing anything... Anyone have experience with this occurrence? It's at about 49000 miles, so I'd like to take care of it before the original warranty goes out... Thanks!

All that means is that you were accelerating hard enough that the tires were slipping and the traction control kicked in to brake the spinning wheel(s). The 'idiot light' you're referring to indicates when the DTC kicks in. It's normal when driving in conditions that are slippery (i.e. cold, wet, snow, ice).

If I'm not mistaken, that means you were accelerating hard enough that the tires were slipping and the traction control kicked in to brake the spinning wheel(s). The 'idiot light' you're referring to indicates when the DTC kicks in. It's normal when driving in conditions that are slippery (i.e. cold, wet, snow, ice), but seems a bit odd since you're located in California.

No, it's not the yellow traction control symbol with the circle around it... It's the orange check control light, next to the gear selection indicator in the instrument cluster. but no check control errors are popping up...
