Proud owner of new 535xi M and have been trying to figure out if there is a way of storing music from multiple cds and/or dvds without creating a new music listing or file for each one added. I would like to keep all artists grouped together rather than having them set up as separate files. Also, is there any way of moving a song from one music file to another??

I'm not entirely sure how the new system works but I would think that if the music files you're transferring contain the proper meta-tags, the car will deal with the categorization & listings quite well.

On my (non-HDD) car, songs on my USB connected HDD are automatically indexed so I can choose songs by album, artist, genre, etc. without having to manipulate the files.

Are you ripping files from your own discs or downloading songs from another source?

I haven't figured this out yet, and to be honest not many people have the 2010 cars this early.
What I have been doing is deleting the old folders and making new ones on my PC and transfer the data again back to my car.

Mine is kept all in one convenient place, itunes.

if i want to listen to a particular artist, i can burn the selected song or songs on to a very cool disc. My car can then read them and i listen to them.

my car can hold thousands of these discs as they are very thin. I don't have worry about hard drives or anything like that

and when i get sick of the songs on that cd, the disc makes for a very nice coaster to place my beer

That's exactly what I've had to do, delete the old file and copy from new disc with entire collection to include those songs that I had left off the prior one. I would think there's an easier way to accomplish this without having to delete and ad all over again.
