When I bought my '07 530xi back in August, the car still had some time left on the Sirius subscription, so the prior owner just let me use it up until it expired. Well, that's what it did in February, 2011.
At the time, I just got laid off from my job, so I decided not to renew. When you tried to access, it gave you a code and told you to contact Sirius.
Now that I'm working again, I decided maybe to renew. But now, instead of giving me the code and contact Sirius message, it just says "Acquiring". It appears that the unit can no longer find satellites.
Do you think I have something wrong with the unit or is it something that was done on the Sirius end to shut the account?
If its the former, what steps can I take to check it out after I access the trunk unit? Thanks for any insights.

the module is in the left rear of the trunk, the antenna is built in to the sharkfin. remember the car has to be outdoors and under clear sky (ie not under a tree) to get reception.

Jay,
If its anything like XM, there is a way on the receiver to find your Sirius module # for your particular car. Call Sirius with that number and they can tell you right over the telephone whether your unit is working by pinging your receiver or something like that... I would do an internet search on how to get the receiver or subscription number and go from there.

And along the lines of what 545felix was saying, I notice if I am too close to a building I dont get the reception necessary and it says "acquiring signal". I am assuming you have but will ask anyway, have you tried this in an open area?

The thing is, right after my subscription ended, I was getting messages to call Sirius and I remember seeing a number that I was supposed to give them if I wanted to renew. After awhile, that went away, and now all the menus, presets and settings are blank. I'm wondering if somehow a cable came loose or something.
