So the battery died on my 550i, the shop replaced it and now my nav screen will not move when I drive. The map is stuck at the shops address and will not more around when the car is moving.
I have tried an updated nav map dvd
I have tried reseting the iDrive by holding down the 2 eject buttons and the mute button
I tried having the system scanned for errors and reset using DIS (no errors were found though)
I spoke to the guy at the dealer, he said he didn't think it was the antenna because if it was bad, the speed sensor would still make the map move while I was driving (inaccurately of course but it would still move)
I took it in to register the new battery and they had to recode the whole system because I went with a AGM battery instead of the old flooded batteries, and that didnt help the nav either. Everything els works just fine. I am able to set a route and it calculates just fine, but it starts the guidance from the shops address (the address it is stuck at)
Anyone have any ideas what I can do? Is there anyway to force it to reposition or reacquire my location?
Thanks in advance.
Joe

Tried recalibrating the electronic compass? In an open area with no traffic, drive in a circle (at least 360°) at a maximum speed of 7 kph.

Nope, that I have not tried! Will do! Is there anything I have to set on the navigation before I do this, or only drive in a circle? How will I know its complete? And does it matter if its clockwise or counter clockwise?

I'm talking about the CCC Navigation sense of direction. Once, when the battery was disconnected during service, the navigation became accurate - wrong street, wrong direction. I made a U-turn to return to the BMW Center and the navigation suddenly became accurate.

the nav unit is not in the left rear of the trunk- it's part of the radio unit in the lower center of your dash. Try a three-finger salute (press both eject buttons and the radio on/off button at the same time) to see if a reboot takes care of it, otherwise it might be the gyroscope module attached to the CCC.

I have tried rebooting like 10 times, no help. Does the gyroscpoe have anything to do with the navi compass? because thats stuck on facing north and will not change when I drive either. Any way to test the gyro sensor?

it's either part #5 or #6 in this diagram. I'd get a used CCC from someone here or the 'bay and swap the module.
CCC parts
if you get to the "secret" menu on the CCC I think you can view gyro sensor output, but you might try INPA software if you have the usb dongle.
One other last-ditch thing I'd do is pull the harness from the back of the CCC and see if that resets the sensor
