How did you guys set up the 167's or 166's on your cars? I have a 545 and the dealer says it will not fit and I would have to get 8.5 x 19 all around and not the staggered set-up?

I have 167's (staggered) and moved the 245's and 275's from the stock 172 wheels to the 167's. Works great!

The stock OEM rear wheel and tire combo from the M5 will work fine for the normal E60 its the front that needs to be 10mm narrower for it not to rub. so use 245s in the front instead of 255s that come stock on the M5/M6 wheels. For better matching rolling diameter use 275s in the rear but 285s will work fine.

Only if you want to for the rear. spacers only make it stick out more so it would be "worse" in the same sense as what your dealer is trying to tell you.

Dealer would only have a point if it was an E61 touring, as the wider rears with the 32 offset (e.g. style 172 wheels)catch on the inner wheel arch. But even on the touring the use of spacers will correct that.
On the E60 the 166's or 167's are ET28 on the rear and even take a 10mm spacer and will not catch, even without arch rolling, using a 275/30/19
