I am not happy the car only put out 369Hp.
Actually, that doesn't sound too bad. Is that 369 Hp at the rear wheels? If so, you have a rocket.

Wish I did a baseline run for my car too. Just found out there's a dyno place near my house so I'll try to get it done before I get the next Dinan performance mod.

So you got a gain of 9hp? You're talking about Crank HP right not WHP... if its WHP OMG THATS SOOOO GOOD!
I am sure he is comparing 369 to 360 or else he would not be disappointed. I am eager to see how it turns out. The B&B should do essentially an unmeasureable amount. I am not sure about the homemade CAI. Making a properly functioning CAI is tricky business--not like just putting some pipes on that give cold air--design is very important--not meaning to imply that he and his friend don't know what they are doing in designing a CAI. I think that it is even possible that his "chip tuning" is compensating for a loss because of the CAI. I wish he had his stock intake on at this point.

OK, the issue is not clear yet. What is pre-tune WHP for 550i? That needs to be answer, and I guess it should be ~320 hp at the rear. I want to know, too.

Allowing for all parasitic losses, I would estimate RWHP using the simplistic .8 X 360 = 288 or .825 X 360 = 297 for the 550i For some HP info, go to posts 124 and 125 of this thread.

Yeah, parasitic losses through the drivetrain will take about 20% of the crank HP away so I'm sure he means he got 369 crank HP, not WHP. If he got 369 WHP that means he gained about 100 horses from a chip upgrade.....WOW, that would be awesome!!

TCAOS, price-wise, I would consider 9 HP pretty good since I know Upsolute only charges about $400 for the programming. Most exhausts won't give you that much gain and will cost double or tripple. On the flip side, when I talked to them last, they said the average gain would be around 18-20 HP for a 545 but it would depend on the car. Let us know if they're able to improve on the numbers...good luck!

9HP over 3800lb car does make any difference since to get that 9hp, you need to rev a little higher. Increase by at least 30hp would make sense to do. Just my $0.02

Sorry for the delay. The Dyno run was crank not rear wheel. The cold air intake was not put on due to the mixture being off. I feel that 9hp is not a good gain, I feel it gained the extra HP from the B&B and a K&N filter I have in the stock box. Upsolute at the least calls for a 15 - 20 HP increase. The decrease of HP through the drive (SMG) was 20%.

I think the commonly accepted rule is 82.5% for autos and 86.5% for manual and auto with converter locked up. I don't think 9hp makes much significant performance difference for 300+ HP engines with cars weighing in 3800+ lbs.
