This is my first post so you veterans be patient.
Are Progman updates necessary if you haven't had any problems?
From reading postings, it looks like getting an update just causes another problem, which then has to be corrected with another update.
Do I get some tricky on board stuff by having the latest update?
Thanks, guys.

Welcome and a Happy New Year to you.

You will not receive any updates unless you can persuade your dealer's service centre that you have specific issues you need to be fixed. It is up to you to identify symptoms (or retrofit requirements) and the dealer's service manager decides whether the solution to the symptom/retrofit requires a CIP (Progman) update.

I am not sure my issue can be fixed by updating the software... the music didn't mute while dialing bluetooth phone calls. Neither side can hear anything, had anyone experience this?

Also, the passenger side window cannot be shut, either pull or push the window button is opening. Only driver side can close the window again. It seems like wiring problem... but it is quite ridiculous.

probably already looked at but by any chance do you have the drivers safety for the windows on?

If you don't have any problems, don't get any updates.

Since they updated my car for the first time I experience more and more trouble.

Once I get an update that doesn't annoy me with bugs, I'll keep it and never have any more updates.

Well you may run into a situation that mandates a software upgrade even if you do not believe anything is wrong, such as the emissions issue as we had in 2005 and required an upgrade to CIP 13.1 or higher. In these cases you may not even be aware and when you take care in for routine service they run the history, find you are in need of update and DO IT without even asking.

But generally, you are best to follow the path as Iceman laid out, once working "LEAVE IT THE H*LL ALONE"
