I had my old 325i tinted 30%. Got pulled over and got a notice to take it off which I had to get an inspection station to sign off on after I had it removed. I had the tint removed and when I went to the inspection station the guy didn't even come out to see that I took it off. He just signed off on it. I was so pissed.

I couldn't have known he wouldn't actually check. I was just pissed I did it and he didn't even look.

I would remove it and get a legal one... that way you still get your tint and won't have to worry about it.

hello fellow member i just want to seek on your advice if i should remove the front side tint or take off all of it since the cop said it was too dark.I have until apr 17 to do that before i go to their municipal hall.It would be ugly if i just take the front passenger and driver side tint, so i was condidering taking them all off. What do you guys think? To all those who experienced the same thing what did you do?Thanks
It is easy. Find a same e60 with same exterior color without tinted window.
Switch license plate then take that car for checking. It works all the time..

ps. Don't give my info to the cop, please....

In NYS, I believe all the mommy vans are outlaws from the factory. (note the weasel-wordry in their ads about rear window tint). In NY, the official line is it is against the law because law enforcement cannot see into or through the car. So, I'd check to see what the state % tint limit is and get adjusted.

Personally, I don't find it appealing: I didn't start calling that treatment PimpTint back in the 70s for nuthin....

Cheers,
Ray Hull

The state tint law may prohibit applying tint, but US Federal law allows for Vans, MiniVans, and SUVs to have tint on the rear & rear passenger windows from the factory.

In the USA, no state law may supercede any federal law.

So.... even if the state says no tint... federal law comes first.

I was hardly born in the 70s. You're too old.
