Does anyone know if upgrading the idrive software can fix/screw up sterring wheel adjustments and headlight washer functionality?

if the car is under warrentee, i'd give it back. failing that, ask a dealer to check it out, asking for a quote for repairs.... then you can find out the problem, how to fix it and go else where if its too expensive!

I'm just out of my warranty so all repairs bills are coming out of pocket. I've had the car in to get the AUX port installed and ever since the headlight washers stopped working and the steering no longer moves in and out. $120/hr isn't something I just want to spend unless I can be assured the original update of progman didn't screw things up.

Thanks,
Alex

It worked before you gave them your car, and they obviously performed a software update.
Now you experence problems, so they hav damaged the car, therefore they have to fix it.
If you are out of the warranty or not shouldn't be of any concern, because BMW is responsible for what they do with the car, and their work is also covered by a warranty itself.
They will not charge you for fixing your car, which they broke by using software which is faulty.

Re:fix/screw up sterring wheel adjustments

Is it that your steering wheel is not centered properly? If so, then that is a common problem that can occur if they don't complete the software update properly. Take it back, they should not charge you to correct it.

no, the streeting column adjustment.. up/down/in/out.

also, who's to say they broke it? I'm just trying to find out what the capabilities of the progman are.

*BUMP*

Anyone know what the idrive updates specifically include and what they can fix/mess up in the process of updating software.

I'm out of warranty and getting anything fixed requires parting with a limb.

thanks
Alex
