I have a '04 545i which has up to now been great except for the need of a new battery. <_< I have had intermittant problems getting my car to start after stopping and filling up at the gas pump. The engine turns over without any apparent problem and there are no warnings or indications that there is a problem. I will frequntly need to step on the gas pedal and manipulate it to get it to start. once it starts, it runs smoothly and with no apparent problem. It will not do this unless I first fuel up the car. Has anyone else has a similar problem??

You should not touch the gas pedal at all when starting.

A new battery?
That change, if not done by a BMW dealer could cause all your problems!

The change of the battery delates most of the cars CIP's!

The battery change and this recent problem with starting are several months apart and not related. I do not put my foot on the gas pedal when I have this problem to start out. I have to resort to this after several tries to get the car to finally start. I'm not sure if removing the gas cap or filling the tank causes a problem with the fuel ejection system. I'm considering having the dealer take a look at it.

If your fueling with the car running than that is your problem, if not goto the dealer.

I do not leave the car running while I fuel up. I think this would be dangerous. I'm planning on taking her in for a check up. Thanks
