I have two questions that are most likely easy for all of you, but I could not find anything via search results:

1. Prior to this car, I had a CTS. I could program the climate control to NOT turn on when I start the car. Can I do that in a 2006 E60?

2. I have never used a fuel such as Gumout, but love this car...is this something I should do?

Thanks in advance,

1) Yes, you can turn the fan speed knob all the way down and it will no longer come on automatically

2) I use Chevron with Techron fuel system cleaner about every 6k miles, usually about the same time as my oil changes.

not sure about #1 since I still have the problem of it turning on intermittently but as for #2, I assume you're referring to Gumout fuel injector cleaner, just use the Chevron with Techron fuel injector cleaner. Supposedly it's the same thing that BMW sells with a different badge. I use one bottle every month since it's pretty cheap at Autozone or Costco.

Thanks for the tips on the Techron.

As for the fan, I can turn the knob all the way down but it still turns on with the ignition, it just turns on at a lower speed.

I usually just press the power button if it turns on. That's the easiest way or someone else just suggested in another thread, move it to the middle and it will not turn on and off intermittently.

This is actually incorrect. This setting has to be coded.

Yes! That's what I thought. So how do I do it?

Do you have the cable and software?

That would be the place to start.
