If I had any hair left, I would be pulling it out. If I don't see it soon, it will be time for an attorney to pursue it with them. As it is, I expect to make a damages claim for loss of use and depreciation. I figure it's worth around $30/day (based on a typical lease cost) beyond the usual and customary 8 week max delivery time. They made a business decision to do this and a value can be assigned to it. The worst (most likely) thing that will happen is that they will say no. In which case my next car will definitely be an Audi. I've really had it with these guys. What really burns me up is that I bought into the ED literature that claims re-delivery is handled with priority. What a joke. Priority? Yes, the lowest priority.

That sucks.. they should move everyone at the same priority as in better manage everything and get all cars OUT!

It could also take longer, because they have to fix some sort of damage that occured during the shipping process. I hope that is not the reason, but if they have to fix some damage to the bodywork then that would easily take an extra week or two.

You should ask about that to make sure you know what they did with the car, while it was being shipped.

I am a bit worried about the possibility of damage and will defnitely ask about it and go over the car very carefully. I've read here that they don't need to disclose it unless it is more than 3% of the value of the car, so I may never know for sure.

At this point, I would at least have expected some sort of explanation for the delay, but they're not providing one. I would be taking this a lot better if BMW NA had sent me a letter or called saying that they were sorry but they simply swamped and my car would be available on some specific date. Plus, it would have been nice to offer some sort of consolation, like $'s to use at the dealer for BMW stuff. But they just act stupid, miss delivery dates and so on. My dealer said he had another car that the fleet manager ordered that was delayed with no explanation that arrived on Nov. 30. Maybe we didn't pay enough? I think it is probably more a matter of bad priorites and mismanagement.

My information is that Priority 1, "customer sold", cars are given priority over stock and ED cars. I have a feeling that ED may actually take back seat but I'd be surprised if there wan't some some sort of "ship to dealer no later than date" and since a computer (I imagine) assigns cars to carriers it shouldn't get messed up. I would definitely check into any work done at the VPC. On yet to be sold cars there is a VPC report that the dealer should be able to print out, however it may be subject to the value limit as to whether or not something shows up. The other possibility is that they've been doing software upgrades and keep trashing you car's computer.

Thanks. The dealer has been reading the report to me when I call and so far there has been no mention of damage. It just seems it took forever and a day to get it into the VPC. The report showed it "not arriving" until the 15th, but I know it was unloaded from the Hojin on the 4th and through customs & ag on th 7th. I think they let it sit at the customs brokers lot until the 15th, then put it in line for VPC processing. That happened about a week later, but then they closed for the 24th through the 27th. It was released to trucking on the evening of the 28th and has been sitting around since then. A 2 1/2 hour ride away. Annoying to say the least. Maybe that week between customs and VPC it was in the body shop, but then isn't that in the VPC?

Any work on the car would be in the VPC.

It sounds like the ED cars pass through a different customs process. Perhaps they undergo some greater degree of scrutiny since they've been in private hands. It wouldn't surprise me if ED cars are handled almost entirely apart from "new unsold" cars. The ED cars might be processed on entry just like all of the other private vehicles that come by ship (like those belonging to members of the armed forces PCSing back to CONUS).
