Who cares, stopping at the gas pump only in every 800 - 1000 km's is the point!
Inside the car no engine noice at all even if it's a diesel

If it's below 3 degrees outside the car won't do the auto start and stop - it does say this in the manual after I checked the wife's 123d. Mine is an auto 535d so doesn't do it!!

I used to be more into the petrol variants but to be honest I got a bit bored and the newer petrol versioned BMW's felt a bit 'soft' for me in comparison to the old skool stuff. After having a couple of E30 325i Sport's with 6 branch manifold, straight through stainless exhaust, racing cams that for me was how a 6 cylinder should sound, raw and throaty. The e36 M3 convertible again sounded lush and throaty. The v8 in the e39 was nice but again a bit muted even with a Remus exhaust. The 3 litre 6 pot in the 530i Sport again was a lovely smooth engine but too refined to get excited about.....
I think if BMW made 'exciting' race car derived 6 cylinder engines I probably would again be jumping at the chance of having one but for now ill stick with diesel power......

My Ride: 530d M Sport. It has Heads Up Display...need I say more...
Very nice ride. Good colour too. But as Kav said really, the most important Q is, what ya got planned for her?

Exterior wise nothing planned as I ordered it exactly how i wanted it to look. May look into a remap in 6 to 12 months time but thats it as dont want to be voiding the warranty....

The 520 d doesn't have stop/start technology.
Maybe with the new F10 but only available on 1 and 3 series at the moment.
By the way nice car , i took delivery of mine 4 months ago and have already done 11000 miles and average between 45 and 47 mpg .

Ahh is this right that the 5 doesn't have the stop/start technology as I could have swore that I read somewhere that it did.....??
Mine does have the stop/start button. I just assumed that when stopping at lights and disengaging the clutch, the car cuts out and only starts again once you engage the clutch again???? Can anyone clarify this? I do know that the 1 Series has this but unsure about the 5..
