wow .3 lbs of r134! that explains why it was warm. glad to hear you got it fixed

btw, the the old r12 (freon) sys uses a diff valving than r134. reason being so the average consumer don't mix the two together. they are not compatible and if mixed it will destroy the entire system. if the valve on the other cars are smaller than on your e60 its because they use freon (r12, which cannot be bought otc) do not just replace the valves! you have to have it converted (your older cars) to r134.

wow....pretty sad that a newer "high end" car has a/c problems. I wonder more and more about the longevity of these cars (for the non leasers out there)

Not worried. 2 years out of warranty with a 1st year e60, not one dollar spent outside of regular maintenance.

These are freaking BMWs! Yea, they're expensive, they cost a lot to repair, but they're BMWs! They'll last forever.

i'm not sure, my other car was a 93 acura legend which used r134 and this valve worked fine for it. oh well, hopefully i never have to look into this subject again. i get to finally enjoy driving around in the summer again

You sure it had 134? R134 didn't come out until '94 or '95 model year. I had a '95 Maxima, and that was the first model year it had r134. If your valve fittings don't fit your bmw then they are not 134 valves

Back to the OP's question: does anyone know what the correct operating pressures are for the E60's AC system?
