Not so fast... As stated in other threads, it depends on other factors. VIN and the actual defect. The Error Msg can be caused by many different components and only the mat under certain VIN's are covered... Ok, if anyone has this warning, of course they should go and have it checked out as it is a safety item, but it does not mean for sure that it will be covered under a recall at no charge to the customer.

^^^Very good info. Another common cause other than mats or belt tensioner is the front "Accelerating Sensor". PN 65776964608. Just get your codes read and you can then find out what is causing what.

EDIT: I see this was mentioned already.

Are mat sensors only on front seats? because I have this warning also, it started after I dropped my backpack on the rear seat.

Front passenger seat only. It's there to see if it should deploy the front passenger airbags or not.

First I presume that you haven't any faults since?

Could you explain what the difference are between the SBK and SBK2? The repair cable are because of a different connector or?

I would off course like the best (upgraded) version if it do sent gives problems in my 2004?

Hi,

It is already over a year since the repair and the fault didn't come back.

New\improved SBK2 cable has a little bit different design and it is using a different connector (plug) for the Airbag system.

Just google the part number and look for the pictures of the SBK2 cable and compare it with the old model in your car. It is really easy to see the difference.

This should be a good reference point
