What is a little aggravating is to get an image in the mirror set to tilt down when you are expecting to see behind the vehicle.

On another note, when looking at Ice's excellent photo, I thought I might share the way I set my rear view mirrors to eliminate the blind spot. I am sure some of you do the same thing.

For the driver side, put your head on the window glass and set the mirror until you can just see the door handles. Then move your head to the center behind the center rear view mirror and set the right mirror until you see the door handles on the right side. Then do the center mirror to overlap the other two.

Set that way you have virtually eliminated the blind spot so that lane changes can be made faster and with more confidence. It will take a few days to get used to these new settings so don't give up too soon. Once your are accustomed to this, you will feel like your are driving blind when you get back in after servicing and some person at the shop has moved the mirrors in on you.

Another advantage of this system is that when sitting at traffic lights, you can scan a wider area behind you for potential car jackers. They usually approach from the rear and often in pairs - one on each side.

You can just move the selector switch to the right and the mirror comes up to the regular position when it was allready tilted, move the switch back to the left (while still in revers) and the mirror tilts again...
If there is no curb, then push the selector to the right before putting the car in reverse... Or even better, leave it in this position and only chose the automatic tilt by pushing the selector to the left when you are parking at the curb...

I know, Ice, but I'm the impatient sort. It's just a small aggravation. Nothing of consequence.
