as for the folding mirror/key thing, i'll have to check with my dealer
I'm pretty sure it doesn't work anywhere, to lock the car and have the mirrors automaticaly folding.
A lot of us are waiting for it though.
But I wouldn't bet on a later software update with this feature.

(always a great joy dealing with people with less than half of my iq)

Good luck !

HEY, MY DEALER ACTIVATED THAT FUNCTION LAST WEEK!!!!!
It works for sure and it's very handy. If you shut the dors and keep the button pressed on the remote the two side mirrors will fold.

My dealer must be a real BMW pro!!

Now this is getting really interesting.

Was that just an activation, or was it a software update ?

Just an activation, a very simple/quick procedure.
It belongs to car memory or key memory.
It was available from the start but it's kind of undocumented.
Very usefull!

Just to clear up the confusion:

The tilt down function only works when:
1) you have the seat memory function (which is included when getting comfort seats)

AND

2) you put the left/right mirror adjust switch to the proper position

The reason why you need seat memory for this to work is because after the mirror tilts down, it needs to know its original position to move back to. The left/right mirror adjust switch enables/disables this function.

The fold mirrors in by remote function only works when:
1) You have the auto folding and darkening mirrors option

AND

2) The function is activated in the car memory (needs to be programmed by your dealer).

I hope this clears up any confusion.

Actually auto fold mirrors are a danger... NOT in folding, but unfolding... There are some instances where you may have parked close to a wall on one side - driving in with manually folded (electric) mirrors. Unlock the car and "SCRAPE"

So.. Give me manual electric mirrors!

Thanks guys, this is very helpful!

Will have my dealer search for the activation the next time I stop in.

Gotcha, the mirrors ONLY unfold automaticaly IF they were folded using the key.
BMW engineers think of everything!!!

I had my folding mirrors by remote activated by dealer.
Funnily though. The technician's said they tried to activate it but the system was unable to. So they would be contacting BMW UK. However when I got home and just tried out of curiosity it worked!!!
So they activated without even knowing!!!
