Hey,

I have a friend who is around 90 pounds (she is in her 20s), and when she gets into my E60 the "Passenger Airbag Off Light" remains lighted! No matter how she sits in the seat, most of the time the E60 tells me there's no passenger!

After a huge meal the light turns off for her... only to come back on a day later!

This girl is small, but not THAT small...

Can I complain to the dealer/BMW about this? Can they calibrate the weight setting? It is very serious, in case of an accident her airbag won't go off!

Any ideas?
Does the light go on when she is in the back seat? Or can't you see it then cause you are in the back seat too?

Seriously, I wonder what the weight limit is ion the switch. I had my computer bag on my passenger seat this morning and noticed the airbag light on for the first time.

A 50 pound dog triggers the light on my e60. If I place my briefcase just right on the passenger seat then the light will go off as well. VERY annoying!

Got the same problem, my 26lbs Dachshund sets off the seat belt bell which drives me nuts, although I'm getting better about remembering to hook the belt before we take off. Somtimes she gets so pissed off she starts barking at the dam bell.

I'm glad there's another e60 owner that lets their dog in the car. I have a 2 year old English Bulldog. There's a seatbelt chime post somewhere on here where dozens of members were chomping at the bit to flame me for letting my dog ride in the passenger seat. I'd expect this thread to go the same way unfortunately.

Let them, I have three dogs and two of them come to work with everyday; why shouldn't they ride in style, their my family? I have no problem getting them into my 550 or X5, however getting them into the back seat on my Mini is a back breaker.

I have the same problem in 05 545i sport. My girlfriend who weighs 120+ causes the light to stay on. I have taken it to my local BMW dealership but they claimed nothing was wrong. I'm concerned for the safety of her.

My girlfriend is about the same weight. I had a "passenger restraint malfunction" and brought it in for repair. They supposdly fixed it, but everytime my girlfriend is in the car it goes off sometimes, but most of the time stays on. Honestly this is becoming safety issue as well as annoying to bring it in only to see it not work after briinging it home.

Good thing this topic came up. I didn't know the airbag was triggered if there was someone sitting there. I thought it was a malfunction with my airbag. I guess I should read more into my owners manual.
